Schellman & Company Recognized as a Top 100 CPA Firm by Accounting Today

April 2, 2019 Schellman & Company

Tampa, FL, March 19, 2019 – Tampa-based CPA firm, Schellman & Company, LLC (Schellman), a leading provider of attestation and compliance services, has once again been named one of the largest CPA firms in the United States by Accounting Today. Last year, Schellman made its debut within the rankings at #89. This year Schellman moved sixteen spots to #73, making Schellman the largest mover in the rankings for the second year in a row. Schellman also had the distinction of being among the top 10 firms for growth percentage, top 5 for employee and revenue ratio, and top 5 in regional growth.

Schellman is unique among the Top 100 firms as it is the only firm that does not provide traditional accounting services such as financial statement audits or tax preparation. Rather, Schellman’s practice specializes in System and Organization Controls (SOC) examinations, as well as ISO, PCI, HITRUST, and FedRAMP compliance services in an industry that continues to see demand increase dramatically -especially given the introduction of new regulations and laws such as GDPR.

That demand, along with the quality of professionals the firm employs, has catapulted Schellman up the list of Top 100 CPA firms. “It is our goal to become a Top 50 firm over the next several years,” says chief executive officer, Chris Schellman. “At our current growth rate, we are well on track to achieve that goal.”

Making history is nothing new at Schellman. Founded in 2002, Schellman was the first CPA firm to provide SOC examinations - formerly known as SAS 70 audits - as its sole service. Later, Schellman became the first CPA firm accredited to perform ISO certifications, and it remains the only CPA firm dually accredited by the United States (ANAB) and United Kingdom (UKAS) accreditation bodies. The company was also the first CPA firm accredited as a FedRAMP 3PAO, and currently provides the second most FedRAMP assessments globally. Accreditation milestones aside, in 2015, Schellman was also named “Cool Vendor” by Gartner, making the company the first and only CPA firm ever selected for that prestigious honor.

Avani Desai, president, attributes Schellman’s accomplishments to our employee’s mantra of good is not good enough. “Schellman has built a reputation around three things - innovation, passion, and quality. Our professionals are constantly thinking of ways to be innovative and delivering professional services in a way no other firm can, without the core of compliance and professional services.” That mantra has allowed Schellman to firmly establish itself as one of the largest CPA firms in the United States.

“This has been a truly historic achievement for our team,” said Schellman. “We created a niche in the accounting industry and permanently changed the competitive landscape for specialized firms.”
